HVAC Refrigerant Charging & Evacuation / Dehydration Equipment
A-Coil Pressure Decay Tester
Overview
VTI’s Pressure Decay, Evacuation, and Charge (PDPlus) System is engineered to provide reliable Pressure Decay Testing, efficient evacuation, and controlled tracer gas charge for A-Coil manufacturing.
This custom modular frame is constructed with 80-20 Aluminum, per customer request. The Lexan safety enclosure provides projectile protection for the operator and neighboring equipment. Testing pressures vary from 200 – 500 psig to accommodate different specifications per customer request. After the Pressure Decay Test, the Unit Under Test (UUT) is evacuated and then charged with customer specified tracer gas for subsequent leak testing. This system is also equipped with a recovery valve allowing tracer gas left in hose after charging the UUT to be reclaimed.
The control system is integrated with the customer’s database to provide real time data. It is also interlocked with other equipment on the production line to guarantee testing requirements are met in production.

Evacuation and Dual Refrigerant Charge Station
Overview
VTI’s Evacuation and Dual Refrigerant Charge Station is engineered to provide evacuation, dehydration, and charging for condensing unit and heat pump manufacturing.
VTI’s custom processing guns are designed to aid the operator in connecting the proper tools to a given unit. A processing gun will be connected to the “high” and “low” sides of the UUT, the system will then perform an evacuation and dehydration verification on the Unit Under Test (UUT). When the UUT is properly dehydrated, the processing guns will open a valve to charge the UUT with refrigerant. After charging, the charging valve closes and the refrigerant recovery valve opens to recovery any remaining gas in the processing tool and hose. The dual refrigerant circuit on this system allows for the ability to charge with two different types of refrigerant.
The control system is integrated with the customer’s database to provide real-time data. It is also interlocked with other equipment on the production line to guarantee testing requirements are met in production.

Evacuation Elevators for Condensing Units and Heat Pumps
Overview
VTI’s Evacuation Elevator is engineered to provide highly efficient evacuation and dehydration verification for condensing unit and heat pump manufacturing.
These robust evacuation elevators are designed to minimize system footprint while maximizing efficiency. While the Unit Under Test (UUT) is being evacuated it is lifted up allowing other units to move down the conveyor while processing. The UUT will be evacuated and then a repeat “Rate of Rise” (ROR) test will determine the level of dehydration. Once the UUT has received a “Pass” or “Fail” the elevator can be lowered and the unit can move down the line accordingly. This design optimizes production by allowing dehydrated parts to move down the line more quickly, and not get trapped behind a “wet” part that requires extended evacuation.
The control system is integrated with the customer’s database to provide real-time data. It is also interlocked with other equipment on the production line to guarantee testing requirements are met in production.

Evacuation SmartStation (ES) for Large Chillers
Overview
VTI’s Evacuation SmartStation (ES) is engineered to provide Evacuation / Dehydration for large chiller manufacturing.
This custom mobile steel station allows for easy single operator use on the shop floor. This system uses Repeat “Rate of Rise” (ROR) Testing to ensure the Unit Under Test (UUT) is properly dehydrated and ready to receive a Refrigerant Charge.
The control system is integrated with the customer’s database to provide real-time data. It is also interlocked with other equipment on the production line to guarantee testing requirements are met in production.

Festoonery for Evacuation / Dehydration
Overview
VTI’s Festoonery for Evacuation / Dehydration of condensing units and heat pumps is engineered to provide easy and efficient product handling on the manufacturing line.
This custom festoonery is comprised of two vertical support columns and a cantilevered track system. The 14ft long track allows for the Unit Under Test (UUT) to continue moving on the production line throughout the evacuation process, improving the efficiency of the line. This system uses Repeat “Rate of Rise” (ROR) testing to ensure the UUT is properly dehydrated and ready to receive a refrigerant charge.
The control system is integrated with the customer’s database to provide real-time data. It is also interlocked with other equipment on the production line to guarantee testing requirements are met in production.

Pressure Decay, Evacuation, and Charge (PDPlus2) System
Overview
VTI’s Pressure Decay, Evacuation, and Charge (PDPlus2) System is engineered to provide reliable Pressure Decay Testing, efficient evacuation, and controlled tracer gas charge for A-Coil manufacturing.
This PDPlus2 is part of VTI’s Pressure Decay (PD) series. This particular PDPlus system is equipped with dual manifolds allowing simultaneous and independent processing of pressure decay, evacuation, and charging circuits. Testing pressures vary up to 1,000 psig to accommodate different specifications per customer request. After the Pressure Decay Test, the Unit Under Test (UUT) is evacuated and then charged with customer specified tracer gas for subsequent leak testing. This system is also equipped with a recovery valve allowing tracer gas left in hose after charging the UUT to be reclaimed.
